Using Google Doc Securely – Exams/Test

Using Google Doc Securely – Exams/Test

Using a Google Doc test/exam with security

Steps:

  1. From your original test or exam on Google Docs, make a copy for each student with IEP
needs (ie Read and Write etc). Label the copy with the student’s name. You may want to
place all of these in a folder in your drive to stay organized.
  2.  From each copy, go to “Share” and then “Settings” (small gear). In Settings, unclick the
two blue boxes there. You want them to go clear. Leave the General Access “Restricted”.
  3.  Then, still in share, add student and make them a commenter. (not editor or viewer)…
You can put a time on this (start time and end time) or do this just as the test/exam will
start. Once you share it, the student will have access it to it until you remove their
    permissions.
  4. You can add an expiration time OR remove the student from the share settings (click
“remove” by their name) after they are finished the test. Remember to click SAVE when
    you have removed the student.

You will need to do this for each student writing in resource or using R&W. This should avoid the
test/exam being saved in the student’s drive and remove all access for the student. The student
will not be able to copy, download, or print the exam. You will need to print it out once the
student is finished.
